Since
October 2000, Cross-Cultural Solutions' volunteers have had the
opportunity to experience the people and rich culture of China.
Our volunteers teach English in community schools and at a local
community service center. Duties vary slightly with each placement,
but the emphasis will be placed on conversational English with students
at the primary and secondary levels. |
This
program offers a unique opportunity to help build a solid foundation
for mutual understanding and cultural exchange between volunteers and

Thailand, Various Locations
|
This
program brings together cultures from all four corners of the
earth.
|
|
One
of the main objectives of Hostelling intenational Thailand
is to promote the spirit of volunteering. It was in this spirit
that our organization was founded, and continues to be the
foundation upon which we are able to thrive and expand. We
know that the spirit of volunteering is still strong and thriving,
particularly among the youth today. Thus, we have implemented
several program which harness this great resource of volunteering
spirit, with the goal of encourageing cross-cultural communication
and consequently creating a more interactive and international
atmosphere within our hostels.

This was a very interesting day....
Imagine, you are a student at a big
city somewhere in America or Europe. Someone offers you to talk
to foreigners about the culture in your home country and show
them the city you are living. To spend your spare time with people
you don’t even know. What would be your first thought? Probably
“How much do they pay? For students in Thailand the question is
probably: Where do I have to sign?
But
here is the whole story! ......

"Mobile Elephant Clinic Project"
|
|
100
years ago there were at least 100,000 elephants in Thailand,
now sadly that number has dropped to about 5,000 (2,000
in the wild and 3,000 in captivity) and the population is
still estimated to be falling at over 3% a year.
Something must be done to stop this decline or there will
be very few elephants left in the future.
